Two days in Tokyo is barely a taste, but with a good plan you can pack in temples, neon nightlife and the best meal of your life. Here’s our tried-and-tested itinerary.

Day 1: Old meets new

  • Morning: Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa.
  • Afternoon: Akihabara for gadgets and arcades.
  • Evening: Shibuya Crossing and dinner in a tiny izakaya.

Day 2: Culture and calm

  • Morning: Meiji Shrine and a stroll through Yoyogi Park.
  • Afternoon: Harajuku shopping and crepes.
  • Evening: City views from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (free!).

Get a prepaid transit card on arrival — it works on almost everything and saves endless queuing.
